What is Algoliens?

Algoliens is an upcoming web series created by Corey Barber. It was formed during the Algicosathlon series that were created on an old YouTube channel back in 2017 and revived during 2020, eventually leading the new channel to be rebranded to The Algodood Productions. The story revolves around a colorful alien race known as "Algoliens" that live in the Bermuda Triangle undiscovered by humans and compete against each other in fun competitions.

Algoliens is greatly inspired by Cary Huang's popular "Algicosathlon" web series (which spawned many more series on YouTube), with a backstory and personalities for each of the colorful characters being added. It was created to expand the idea of Algicosathlon and Algotriacontathlon.

While no episodes have yet to be released, several shorts and animatics have been produced and uploaded. See List of Algoliens shorts.

Synopsis

In a fictional world in another Galaxy called Algoworld, Queen Spectrum takes control of all the colors in the universe. Over time, she grows bored of the same routine, as she wants to explore the universe around her, with her explorations and curiosities being limited as requested by her husband, King Saturation, controller of the shades of gray. He fears that if she were to set out to space, another life form from another world or universe could track her down and abuse her power. One day, she looks through her telescope and sees a star that catches her eye. She brings Lime in to study it, revealing it to be a planet of life, the Earth. Overjoyed, she sends Lime and fourteen others selected by her to visit it, with the mischievous Olive tagging along accidentally. Since Earth is always curious on alien life themselves, the Algoliens are redirected to an undiscovered island in the Bermuda Triangle, as legends say human creations have disappeared there with no trace. Worried the athletes would get bored, The Queen comes up with an idea after Olive goes missing briefly; they compete in an alternated version of an icosathlon, nicknamed "Algicosathlon". It goes well, with the cast all willing to battle each other. More athletes arrive, and they do it again.

Cut to the present, and everyone still lives on the island, undiscovered by humans. However, they have become tracked by an alien named Phillip Yard, who plans to sabotage Season 3, taking over as the host instead of Queen Spectrum (who did it via an advanced projector), and absorb the colors from the athletes to make his own home world look more beautiful.

Introducing: Buttermilk

  BUTTERS Inspiring Younger Sister Buttermilk (or "Butters") was fascinated by Lavender ever since she was adopted by her family. She mostly wanted to hang around her more than anyone else, thus making her friend group a lot more limited compared to her sister (she's not exactly interested in Purple, Magenta, or Pink in close friendship terms). Despite this, she's a quite happy and cheerful individual and never seems to care about hanging around alone. If you hadn't read Lavender's post already, Butters' outfit was designed by Lavender herself! Lavender loves making clothing designs and Butters wanted to have her own outfit too so Lavender did just that for her. At only 13, is the youngest algolien Queen Spectrum had sent to Earth (allegedly, if Olive's age being 13 is true and not a rumor, some think he's 5-6).
